Overview

Within SO15 you have the highly popular Southampton City Centre home to the West Quay shopping complex, which holds some of the best brand names from John Lewis to Tommy Hilfiger, as well as an extremely diverse food court, and the fantastic Showcase Cinema de Lux. North of West Quay you will find the Mayflower Theatre which is the largest on the South Coast with over 2000 seats in their auditorium. Opening in 1928 as the Empire Theatre, it has now grown to be one of Southampton’s most popular attractions, hosting a mixture of spectacular touring productions and musicals many direct from the West End. 

History

Within SO15 sits the historic Southampton Docks. The port of Southampton is a passenger and cargo port, and since 1982 it has been the busiest cruise terminal and second largest container port in the whole of the UK. The infamous RMS Titanic during her maiden voyage left from Southampton Docks, and today is still one of the most popular docks, P&O celebrated its 175th anniversary in Southampton Port in 2021, with the arrival of 7 world-class liners. In 2015 it was the turn of Cunard to reach their 175th anniversary milestone at Southampton port, it was marked by the presence of their flagship liners: Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria.
