History

The University of Southampton all started with a local eccentric gentleman named Henry Robinson Hartley, the heir to his families wine merchants, he took it upon himself to promote the study of science and learning. By the 20th century the university was winning national grants for work in Chemistry and Engineering. Fast forward to the 21st century, Southampton University is a world leading facility famous for being research driven.
